Peter Jones

Peter Jones graduated from FSU with a Bachelor of Science in accounting in 1977 from the College of Business. He possesses extensive senior executive, accounting, and investment management experience while previously serving as Chairman of Franklin Templeton Institutional, LLC, and President of Franklin Templeton Distributors, Inc., where he worked for 27 years.

After retirement, Jones became an adjunct professor at FSU and taught finance classes over four summers in the university’s study abroad program in London, England, and Valencia, Spain.

In 2018, Jones was inducted into the FSU College of Business Hall of Fame. Additionally, Jones has previously served as a board member for several direct support organizations at FSU, including the FSU Foundation Board of Trustees, the FSU College of Business Student Investment Fund and as the inaugural chair of the Professional Advocacy Board for the Department of Finance in the FSU College of Business. He continues to serve on the FSU Foundation’s Investment Committee and as a board member of the FSU International Programs Association.

Jones also currently serves as chair of the State of Florida Pension Investment Advisory Council and as an independent trustee of MFS Investment Management.

Previously, Jones served on the board of Copperhead Charities, Inc., the host organization of the PGA TOUR Valspar Championship, from 1990 to 2022 (chair in 2008 and 2009) and the board of Tampa Bay Research Institute, from 2010-2024. He and his wife, Mary Lee, live in Clearwater, Florida and have two children and four grandchildren.
